Adam the goat arrived at Big Ears on the 19th October 2018. He had been dumped in the bush down a forestry track in north west Tasmania. His kind rescuer called him Adam and contacted us for his relocation.
Sponsorship of Adam is $100.00 per year which will go towards his health checks, nail trims and regular worming.
The two goats, Quincy (black) and George (brown) arrived at Big Ears on the 23rd October 2017. They were surrendered by an older lady who was selling up her country acreage and moving into the city as she was no longer able to look after her property and animals. She had named the goats after jazz musicians but so far we haven’t heard any musical notes emanating from them except baiaiaiaiaiah. They seem to be the best of friends.
Sponsorship of these two is $200.00 per year and goes towards their vet checks, vaccinations, hoof trims and parasite control.
Smudge arrived at Big Ears on the 19th July 2017. He had been hand raised and very spoilt but his owners had to find him a new home. He was born in May 2013 as part of a school breeding program. He is very gentle and loves a cuddle. He gets on well with Scallywag and Albert his new paddock mates and loves lucerne chaff. He also has the biggest eyes we have ever seen on a goat.
Sponsorhip of Smudge is $100.00 per year which goes towards his vet checks, toe trims, and parasite control.
Albert has called Big Ears home since 2016. He needed to be rehomed as he was a ‘rig’ which meant although de-sexed a testicle was missed meaning he is able to impregnate female goats. The people who had him could not afford to have him desexed surgically so he came here where he lives with Scallywag.
Sponsorship of Albert is $100.00 per year which goes towards his vet check, vaccinations and parasite control.
Gerald came to the sanctuary in March 2015. He had been lovingly hand reared after having a broken leg as a kid. His owner was unable to keep Gerald as she lived in suburbia and was moving interstate.
Gerald is a cuddly goat that loves pats and will bleat for attention. Heloves living in the Big Ears goat herd and is often seen hanging around with his goat girlfriend Annabelle.
Sponsorship of Gerald is $100.oo per year that goes towards his vet check, vaccinations and parasite control.
Dougal was born at the Sanctuary on the 9th October 2016 with his brother Dexter. Their mother Shandi had been rescued by the Sanctuary two months prior due to a chronic footrot condition. It was unknown that Shandi was pregnant so it was a total surprise to Big Ears volunteers when Dexter and Dougal arrived,
Both are happy goats that are always up to mischief and love playing ‘king of the castle’.
Sponsorship of Dougal is $100.00 and goes towards his vet check, de-sex, parasite control and vaccinations.
