Billy Baggins came to the sanctuary in February 2017. He had been found in the backyard of a Big Ears volunteer, all alone, very young and very easy to catch. It was because of this that we initially thought there was something wrong with him but it turned out he was healthy, it may have been his nest was disturbed by predators.
It wasn’t long before we discovered Billy loved sitting and sleeping in a hammock. He spends a lot of the day in the hammock sleeping in the sun. He is very very friendly and just loves cuddle time with Jacqui.
Phillip is one of 6 bunnies that travelled from Victoria in December 2014 to have their forever home here at Big Ears as a family. They had been living with an elderly person who passed away and their carer wanted them to live in an outdoor environment. At that time there were no outside sanctuaries for rabbits in Victoria due to foxes.
Bowie came to the sanctuary in December 2014 with twenty other rabbits in a mass surrender. Bowie was only very young at the time. He lives with his girl friend Avril in an outside pen.
Wetherby came to the sanctuary in 2009 from the Devonport RSPCA. He had been found wandering in the suburbs and nobody claimed him.
He currently lives with five girl buns who keep him warm in winter with lots of snuggling and generally spoil him rotten.
