Tully (RIP)

Tully the turkey chick was born on the neighbours property in 2014 and them mum brought him home to show us all as proud as punch. Tully lives with his mum and his friends in the new turkey enclosure and absolutely loves grapes.

Tofurkey (RIP)

Tofurkey is a young turkey that we found on her side and in some distress. We’re not sure what happened to her and we took her to the vet. She had a broken wing which required that her wing be removed.

Tofurkey is home and recuperating and living in a large pen with 2 other turkey friends that are a bit older and will be gentle with her.

Bolly the Turkey RIP

Bolly is a very special turkey hen that can be seen wandering free range at Big Ears. She is very distinctive as she is sight impaired in one eye and when approaching her it is always kind to call out and let her know to save her getting a fright.

Bolly arrived on Christmas day 2 years ago. She simply wandered in and I found her near the rabbit pens looking around. It didn’t dawn on me until later that it makes for a great Christmas tale that Bolly walked in on Christmas day (a day where some people choose to eat turkey) and that she wandered into a Sanctuary where her safety is guaranteed for the rest of her days.

Montrose (RIP)

Montrose the turkey is a wild turkey who moved in and has never left. He also managed to bring a few of his friends meaning that Big Ears is now home to a number of turkeys that do not want to leave and have been residents for approximately 4 years. He is a beautiful big boy that likes to put on a display for the turkey hens.
