Mrs Slocombe

Mrs Slocombe was named after her beautiful hair, although this Mrs Slocombe needs no hair spray or styling products.

She is a special girl who would be happy to serve at the counter, as long as she was selling her favourite foods, sunflower seeds and corn on the cob.

Molly the hen (RIP)

Molly the hen came to stay at the Sanctuary while her parents went on holidays. When they returned and saw how happy Molly was with other hens and roosters they wanted her to stay here.

Lacey the Hen

Lacey the hen has called Big Ears her home for a number of years after her owners divorced and could no longer afford to keep Lacey and her friends.

Patti and Jeanie RIP

Patti and Jeanie have called Big Ears their home for a couple of years. They live happily with other chickens and roosters. These girls came with a bunch of about 20 hens and roosters that were no longer wanted as they had been allowed to repopulate and it got out of control.

Chloe the Hen

Chloe is one of the hens that came to live at Big ears after her human could no longer keep her or her family due to a divorce in the family. Hens and roosters are expensive to keep and upon realising that she could not care for them properly she surrendered the whole lot to Big Ears where they happily roam around in the grass free range.

Lady Grey

This beautiful hen has called Big Ears her home for at least 5 years. She came from a situation where her owner was going through a divorce and simply could not afford to keep her hens and roosters anymore. She asked if we could assist. Lady Grey is one of about 40 hens we took in that day and have called Big Ears their home ever since.
