Collingwood is an avid supporter of her AFL team and she would love a supporter to sponsor her, actually she doesn't mind if you're not a football supporter either, just so long as she has someone to call her very own sponsor.

There are 2 sponsor places only, so be quick if you want to sponsor this lovely girl.

Collingwood can be sponsored for $40.00 a year.

Minnie the donkey is a delightful older donkey just into her 30's and she loves a brush and a pat.  In fact she can stand for hours enjoying a nice brush and listening to stories from her human companion.  As the eldest donkey of the herd, Minnie naturally has the respect of the other 3 girls, one of which is her daughter.  Minnie came to Big Ears around 6 years ago so that she would not end up in a life of breeding.

Minnie can be sponsored for $300 a year.  The sponsorship fee goes towards 6 weekly hoof trimming, 3 monthly worming, annual dentist check up and vet health check.

Burnum the emu is one of a pair that call Big Ears their home.  Burnum is an Aborginal word meaning Courageous.  Burnum and his partner Lowanna were living in a small yard and being sold as a breeding pair.  The thought of these 2 breeding and having babies then bought and sold for their oil, feathers, meat etc led Jacqui to do something she doesn't normally do.  Jacqui purchased the emus in order to give them a better life and one without being bred.  They both now live happily in a large pen, free to run and have dust and mud baths as they like.

Rupert had grease stains on his beautiful fur which his family tried to remove before bringing him to the Sanctuary.  It is not clear how these occurred other than Rupert had been living under the car.  It was also observed that Rupert has slight urine scalding and staining to his fur.

Rupert is not his original name, he has been renamed because he looks so much like a Rupert and he was keen to make a fresh start.  Rupert has not been de-sexed or vaccinated.  Sponsorship of Rupert will allow for us to arrange these essential health treatments for him.

Diva is a 6 month old ewe that arrived recently at Big Ears. She was an orphaned lamb and would have died if she had not been saved by her very caring human mum who went on to bottle rear her. Diva is truly a sweetheart. One of the kindest animals I have had the pleasure of meeting, Diva looks after her best friend Blindy. As her name suggests, Blindy is a sight impaired sheep and relies on Diva to take her to the food and water and to keep her safe. This little Diva makes the cutest little baa noise and is a delight to be around.

Diva has come to live at Big Ears with her friend Blindy due to a change in family circumstances which could not be avoided. Diva's humans wanted her and Blindy to go to a place where they would be safe for the rest of their lives and not split up or slaughtered for meat.

Sponsorship of Diva is $130 which will go towards her vaccinations, drenching, shearing and health checks. Diva is partial to getting respiritory illnesses so she requires extra medication and therefore her sponsorship is more than the other sheep.

Jaffa came to live at the Sanctuary after she and her brother were found abandoned in a school yard.  Both rabbits were covered in fleas and mites and had masses of matted and tangled fluff that have to be shaved off by the vet.  These 2 bunnies had been neglected for a very long time.  Jaffa is an English Angora and is a high maintenance rabbit due to her fur which requires daily grooming.  Ideally these rabbits should not be bred or sold in countries like Australia due to the fact that they are bred for cooler climates.  They are also 'exotic' in that they requie so much care and attention for the upkeep to their fur, nevermind all the usual bunny upkeep.

Jaffa can be sponsored for $80.00 which will go towards her health chck, annual vaccination and professional hair clip.

Recently his partner Sheba passed away and Buster immediately reverted to his biting behaviour whilst grieving for his friend.

Buster was introduced to a new friend and he is happier and not as aggressive as he was.

Pretty Twiggy is one of the original feral cats taken in by Big Ears. Twiggy and her 2 sons Ziggy and Major Tom had been living at the old Origin Energy site as "ratters". They were not friendly cats except with a staff member named Kathy, so when Origin moved its site they also tried to move the cats. What they found was that the cats did not like the new area, nor did they have any role at the new site. Kathy had been looking after the cats for a number of years (and had arranged to have the males desexed when they were younger). Eventually contact was made and the feral cats moved to Big Ears in a specially made outdoor enclosure to live out their days. The only other option was to leave them to fend for themselves which was not a responsible option, or to have the euthenased, again an option that was difficult given they were healthy cats.

After living at the Sanctuary for several years Twiggy has become affectionate and likes a pat. She lives with her one remaining son Ziggy (Major Tom was put to sleep after becoming quite ill).

Twiggy can be sponsored for $50.00 for her health check and vaccinations.

And fly he does, all around the farm, high into the 300 year old gumtrees and 100 year old pine trees. All the time though he has a close eye on Jacqui and he swoops down to see what she is doing and to help her out by sampling the tasty treats at feeding time. Magic is truly remarkable and we think he has the best of both worlds. He is clearly bonded to a human, in this instance Jacqui and he gets to spend time with her but he also gets to fly and soar and do all the natural and instictual behaviours that he is meant to do.
