HOW TO HELP

Running a sanctuary takes more than pats, cuddles and kisses.  It also takes a lot of money.  As a not for       profit registered charity we rely on the goodwill of those who care about animals.  Every day expenses include  feed, shelters, medication, cleaning, veterinary assistance, and fencing.  These costs add up and any donation, no matter how big or small, will help the animals.  We are a No Kill Sanctuary which means that animals that are not suitable to be rehomed, or have special needs stay here for the remainder of their lives.

Big Ears would really love some corporate sponsorship to help with ongoing costs.

100% of all donations is spent on the animals - there are no administrative or staff costs.

Remember - Big Ears has deductible gift recipient status which means -

Donations are tax deductible for you.

Look out for Big Ears donation tins at the following supportive businesses:

Launceston Veterinary Clinic - Wellington Street, Launceston

The easiest way to help animals is to stop eating them. A vegetarian or vegan diet not only saves lives, it is healthier for you and is friendly to the planet.

You can now purchase food at Pet Barn - Bathurst St Launceston and put it in the Big Ears container.

You can also go to Launceston Veterinary Clinical Centre - 351 Wellington Street and ask to pay some money off the Big Ears account.

Magic the sulphur crested cockatoo is indeed an amazing bird.  Everyday Magic is let out of his cage, his wings are unclipped and he is free to fly.  And fly he does, all around the farm, high into the 300 year old gumtrees and 100 year old pine trees.  All the time though he has a close eye on Jacqui and he swoops down to see what she is doing and to help her out by sampling the tasty treats at feeding time.  Magic is truly remarkable and we think he has the best of both worlds.  He is clearly bonded to a human, in this instance Jacqui and he gets to spend time with her but he also gets to fly and soar and do all the natural and instictual behaviours that he is meant to do.

If you would like to sponsor this amazing boy $80 will go towards his favourite treats especially apples and seed bells.

please be mindful that we are not advocating you to let your bird out, any release into the wild needs to be done with the assistance of experts.
